The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Department of State Services at the DSS Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit reinforced the partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the agency and also highlighted the critical role of inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding Nigeria’s national security architecture.
During the visit, Disu described the DSS as an indispensable yet often unseen partner in security operations.

He emphasized that successful missions depend heavily on intelligence support and cooperation.
Also, the IGP stressed the need for a stronger symbiotic relationship between both agencies, identifying key areas of collaboration to include election security, counter-terrorism, VIP protection, cybercrime prevention, and tackling economic sabotage.
He also called for enhanced intelligence sharing and joint training initiatives aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness across both institutions.
In his response, the Director-General of the DSS commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing IGP Disu, noting his experience and commitment to service.
He further praised the Federal Government’s ongoing support for the Nigeria Police, particularly in the renovation of training institutions nationwide, which he said would improve capacity building within the Force.
The DSS boss expressed confidence that the new IGP would build on the achievements of his predecessors while advancing policing standards in the country.
Reaffirming the agency’s position, the DG assured continued intelligence sharing and joint operations with the Nigeria Police, describing the collaboration as a “priceless national asset” in the fight against insecurity.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to deepening cooperation, enhancing intelligence collaboration, and promoting institutional harmony in order to strengthen Nigeria’s overall security framework.
