The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said its just-concluded National Convention would have been held in the office of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, if it failed to secure a venue for it.
New Telegraph had earlier reported that the party’s National Convention was held on Tuesday at the Rainbow Event Centre, Garki district of Abuja, a private facility.
ADC National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, who spoke at a television programme on Wednesday morning, said apart from denying the party use of government facilities, every private property owner the party applied to rejected the request for fear of not incurring the anger of the minister.
“We went to Chida Hotel, they said they don’t want Wike’s problem,” Idigo disclosed.
According to him, the owner of Rainbow Event Centre wrote to them by 1 AM on the convention day, cancelling the contract with them.

“But we told them our event planners are already on the ground, and that this is not going to happen.
“In any case, we are determined to hold the convention in the Minister’s office. We are Nigerians, and this country belongs to all of us,” he added.
