Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has declared that his political camp will only accept the outcome of the 2027 general elections if the process is transparent, credible and free from manipulation.
The governor spoke at the Bauchi State Government House during the affirmation of candidates of the Allied People’s Movement for various elective positions ahead of the elections.
During the exercise, Mohammed emerged as the party’s candidate for the Bauchi South Senatorial District, while the state Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, was affirmed as the governorship candidate.

Also affirmed were Commissioner for Water Resources, Nuhu Zaki, for the Bauchi Central Senatorial seat and Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau for Bauchi North.
Addressing supporters after the exercise, Mohammed said the 2027 elections should be based on issues, performance and democratic values rather than intimidation or electoral malpractice.
According to him, his political camp would not underestimate opposition parties but would instead rely on the achievements of the administration to seek renewed support from the electorate.
The governor urged the Federal Government, the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to remain neutral throughout the electoral process to ensure a level playing field for all political parties.
“We will not ask anybody to rig for us, but we will not allow anybody to rig against us. If we win, we will accept it, and if we lose in a free and fair contest, we will also accept it. That is democracy,” Mohammed stated.
The governor explained that his decision to adopt the APM platform followed unresolved political disagreements within the Peoples Democratic Party.
He described the APM as a grassroots-oriented political platform with growing acceptance among ordinary Nigerians, particularly in rural communities.
Mohammed also said his decision to contest for the Senate was aimed at sustaining the development programmes initiated during his administration in Bauchi State.
He commended security agencies, especially the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Nigerian Army, for their efforts in improving security and maintaining peace in Bauchi and across the country.
Speaking after his affirmation, governorship candidate Yakubu Adamu thanked party leaders for what he described as a transparent consensus process.
Adamu pledged to build on the achievements of the Mohammed administration if elected governor in 2027.
He said his administration would focus on economic development, healthcare, education, infrastructure, rural development and youth empowerment while commending the governor for providing purposeful leadership in the state.
