Two Convicted In Bauchi Over Motorcycle Fraud

Two suspects have been convicted by a Lower Shari’a Court in Liman Katagum over the fraudulent sale of a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle in Bauchi State.

The conviction followed their arrest by operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command in connection with criminal breach of trust, cheating and theft.

Police spokesman, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed that the case was reported on May 6, 2026, after two residents of Lekka Village accused one Usman Mohammed of disappearing with their motorcycle entrusted to him for sale.

According to the police, the suspect had agreed to sell the motorcycle for N850,000, but instead allegedly sold it for N362,000 to another suspect, Rabiu Mohammed Musa, in Bauchi Town.

Following intelligence-led operations, officers attached to Yelwa ‘E’ Division arrested the suspects and recovered the stolen motorcycle.

The suspects were later charged before a Lower Shari’a Court in Liman Katagum, where they both pleaded guilty and were convicted accordingly.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, advised members of the public to be wary of fraudulent transactions and to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
