Tinubu Wins Osun APC Presidential Election Primary


Scores 100, 880 Votes To Defeat Osifor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been declared the winner of the presidential election primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Osun State.

President Tinubu scored 100,880 votes to defeat his co-contender, Mr. Stanley Osayamen Osifor who polled zero vote in the just concluded primary election held in the state.

Tinubu, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the ruling party, is wrestling for the party ticket in a contest with his opponent, Osifor, as all registered members of the party across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) head to the poll to elect the party flag-bearer for the 2027 presidential election.

Declaring the collated results of the primary, held in Osun State, in Osogbo on Saturday, the Returning Officer for Osun State Presidential Primary Election, Adegboyega Oyetola, declared that all the accredited members of the party, who participated in the primary cast their votes for President Bola Tinubu.

According to Oyetola, out of 109,806 total digitally registered members of the APC in Osun, President Tinubu polled 100,880 votes across the 30 local government areas of the state.

Oyetola, who doubled as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, added that President Tinubu got all the votes of the accredited 100,880 members of the party who participated in election in all the 30 local governments in the State.

“By the powers vested in me as the Osun State Coordinator and Returning Officer for Osun State Presidential Primary Election, I hereby declare His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the winner of the All Progressives Congress APC Presidential Primary Election 2026 in Osun State having polled 100,880 votes to defeat Mr Stanley Osayamen Osifor, the co-contender in the primary”, Oyetola declared.

Oyetola used the occasion to commend the party loyalists for their unflinching support and steadfastness saying “today’s exercise has once again demonstrated that the All Progressives Congress, APC remains a party firmly rooted in democratic values, internal cohesion, transparency and progressive governance.”

He added: “the peaceful conduct witnessed across the thirty Local Government Areas of Osun State, including the Ife-East Area Office, is a testament to the enduring strength and unity of our party, and this impressive turnout is not only historic but also a resounding affirmation of the confidence reposed by members of our party in the leadership, vision and renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu.

“Your turnout today further reflects the deep trust and abiding belief of our members in the direction of our great party and in the transformative leadership currently being provided at the national level as the successful primary held today reinforces the position of the APC in Osun as a united, focused and forward-looking political family fully committed to the continued progress, stability and development of Nigeria under the purposeful leadership of President Tinubu.”

Earlier in his remarks, the governorship candidate of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, expressed satisfaction in the hitchtfree and peaceful conduct of the presidential primary election held in the state.

Oyebamiji lauded the leadership and members of the party for trooping out en masse to participate in the election exercise resorting to the victory of President Tinubu.

The occasion has in attendance, concerned observers, including officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, security operatives, members of the press, among others.
