TCN Announces Power Outage In Parts Of Ibadan


The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a temporary power outage in parts of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, due to scheduled maintenance on a major transformer.

In a statement signed by its General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, on Tuesday, the company disclosed that a 100MVA 132/33kV transformer at the Ayede Transmission Substation will be shut down for routine preventive maintenance.

According to TCN, the exercise which is scheduled to take place between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m, noting that its maintenance is necessary to ensure the facility continues to operate efficiently and reliably, with engineers set to carry out essential checks and servicing during the period.

As a result of the shutdown, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to customers in the Express, Industrial, and Oluyole areas within the stated timeframe.

TCN apologised to residents and businesses in the affected communities for the inconvenience, assuring that the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve power infrastructure and service delivery.
