Shettima, Oluremi, Others Applaud Omidiran As FCC Launches Digital Platform


Top government officials on Tuesday commended the leadership of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) as it unveiled a new website and integrated digital platform aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability and compliance monitoring across over 700 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The high-level event, held at the Presidential Villa Banquet Hall, Abuja, drew dignitaries from the Executive, Legislature and key national institutions, underscoring the significance of the Commission’s digital reform initiative.

In her welcome address, FCC Executive Chairman, Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, described the launch as a major milestone in the Commission’s reform agenda, noting that it signals a shift toward modern, technology-driven governance.

She said the platform would provide a unified and user-friendly interface for public engagement, while boosting operational efficiency and institutional visibility.

According to her, in a statement from her media aide, Ademola Lawrence, the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises digital transformation, innovation and inclusive governance.

Representing the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Hajiya Laila Barau Jibril said the platform reflects the readiness of public institutions to meet the demands of a digital society.

She noted that beyond its technological value, the platform would strengthen trust between government and citizens by improving access to information and opportunities.

On behalf of the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, Mallam Sadiq Wanka commended the Commission for deploying innovation to promote national cohesion and institutional efficiency.

He said the initiative demonstrates the administration’s commitment to leveraging technology to strengthen governance and ensure equitable distribution of opportunities.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, who formally unveiled the platform on behalf of the President, described it as a strategic tool for improving institutional performance and accountability across government processes.

Similarly, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, represented by Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, lauded the Commission for embracing digital innovation, noting that the platform would enhance oversight, compliance and equitable access to opportunities in line with the Federal Character principle.

The event was attended by heads and representatives of several government agencies, including the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), among others.

Vice Chancellors of the University of Ilorin and the University of Abuja, as well as other key stakeholders, were also in attendance.

The FCC said the digital platform is expected to significantly improve service delivery and strengthen compliance with the federal character principle across public institutions.
