…cautions against unguided utterances
A Frontline gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Sen. Ahmed Wadada, has cautioned his supporters against unguided utterances and divisive sentiments capable of creating disaffection among supporters of the ruling party ahead of the party primaries.
He made this appeal at a press conference in Lafia on Sunday, urged his supporters not to attack his co-contestants in the race nor party leaders in any form because of their differences in interest.
New Telegraph reports that Governor Abdullahi Sule had on April 16 announced Sen Ahmed Wadada as his preferred successor and called on party leaders and other stakeholders in the ruling All Progressive Congress, including his political appointees, to support him.
Sen Wadada said that the 2027 elections should be issue-based, devoid of bitterness, other than playing by the rules of the game.
He said, “I appeal to all my supporters across Nasarawa State, to avoid unguided utterances that heat the polity. We should not campaign based on religion, ethnicity, or personal attacks. Let us discuss policies, competence, and the future of our state
“The state had made progress under all the four previous governors, Abdullahi Adamu, Aliyu Akwai-Doma, Umaru Al-Makura and his successor Gov. Sule, and that continuity of good governance would require maturity from political actors,” he added.
The senator promised to evolve issue-based campaign that focuses on his legislative records, economic blueprint for the state, youth employment, agriculture, and security, when campian kick starts.
Wadada lauded Governor Sule for his leadership style and pledged his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the party must present a united front in 2027.
He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the media, particularly the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), to help set the tone for peaceful electioneering.
Sen Wadada also called on stakeholders, party leaders, aspirants, supporters, and citizens to come together and place the interest of the state above other considerations.
