The South East Good Governance Advocates (SEGGA), a sociopolitical group, has congratulated the newly elected National Officers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the South East geopolitical zone, describing their emergence as a testament to the region’s growing political relevance.
In a statement jointly signed by its Coordinator, Amadi Patrick, and Secretary, Promise Ezeocha, SEGGA commended the election of Dr Ben Nwoye as Deputy National Chairman (South), Donatus Nwankpa as National Welfare Secretary, Uguru Mathew Ofoke as National Treasurer, Ijeomah Aridogbu as Zonal Chairman (South East), and Emeka Okafor as Deputy National Organising Secretary.
The group noted that the emergence reflects not only the individuals’ competence and loyalty to the party but also signals an increasing recognition of the South East in national politics.
SEGGA described Nwoye as a leader with proven administrative capacity and strategic depth, citing his ability to build consensus and manage complex political dynamics. It also highlighted Nwankpa’s grassroots mobilisation experience and legislative background as key strengths for enhancing party cohesion and member welfare.
On Ofoke, the group emphasised his reputation for financial prudence and transparency, noting that his role as National Treasurer comes at a crucial time when accountability is vital for sustaining party operations.
Aridogbu was praised for his deep understanding of the South East political landscape, with SEGGA expressing confidence that his leadership would strengthen party structures and unity across the zone. Similarly, Okafor was described as a seasoned legal practitioner and politician capable of delivering effectively in his new role.
While celebrating the appointments, SEGGA urged the new officers to rise to the challenges ahead by expanding the party’s acceptance in the South East, addressing longstanding grievances, and fostering inclusiveness.
The group stressed the need for the leaders to bridge trust gaps, strengthen grassroots structures, and position the APC as a credible platform for development, equity, and national integration.
SEGGA reaffirmed its confidence in the capacity of the new officers to deliver purposeful leadership and contribute to the party’s success nationwide, particularly as Nigeria looks ahead to future political milestones.
