Former Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has said the Supreme Court judgment that recognised Senator David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was a reaffirmation of the integrity of internal party affairs.

Hayatu-Deen, who has declared interest in the ADC‘s presidential ticket for 2027, in a statement by his media office, said political parties must be protected from external manipulation.

“This ruling underscores the necessity of preserving the sanctity of Nigeria’s democratic space.

“The internal processes of political parties must not be subject to artificial distortions, as they are central to the health and legitimacy of our democratic system,” he said.

The presidential aspirant called for a sustainable democracy in the country that is anchored on strong institutions.

“These institutions remain credible only when rules are respected, processes are transparent, and outcomes are guided by law rather than expediency,” he added.

Hayatu-Deen called on the ADC to translate the court judgement into a coherent strategy for national development.

“What ultimately matters is the delivery of measurable improvements in the everyday lives of Nigerians in the areas of security, cost of living and jobs,” he said, and reminded party leaders that many Nigerian households are contending with rising cost of living, terrorism and kidnapping.

“Industries are paralysed by uncertainty and high operating costs, and millions of young people are seeking meaningful economic opportunities which are either non-existent or too often denied.

“The imperative before us as a party is clear: we must provide a vision of safety, opportunity and prosperity for the Nigerian people,” Hayatu-Deen declared.

He challenged ADC to prioritise competence, inclusivity, and results-driven governance.
