Oyetola’s Son Withdraws From Osun Central Senatorial Race

Son of the former Governor of Osun State and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Femi Oyetola, has withdrawn from the contest for the Osun Central Senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the party’s primary election. Oyetola announced his withdrawal in an official statement dated May 18, addressed to the Osun State Chairman of the APC.

In the letter, a copy which was obtained by our Correspondent, Oyetola said the decision followed extensive consultations and interventions by party leaders.

He explained that he stepped down in the interest of the unity, stability, and electoral success of the APC in Osun State. According to him, the decision was difficult considering the support, sacrifices, and encouragement he received from youths and stakeholders across Osun Central who backed his aspiration.

The APC chieftain noted that many supporters voluntarily purchased his nomination form and stood by his ambition to see a new generation contribute actively to governance.

Oyetola, however, stated that party members must place collective interest above personal ambition in order to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
