The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has won the All Progressives Congress ticket to contest the Delta North Senatorial race.
This was as the incumbent Senators, representing Delta South and Delta Central, Chief Joel Onowakpor and Olorogun Efe Dafinone, won the party’s ticket to re-contest their seats.
Dafinone defeated the former Deputy Senate President, Chief Ovie OmoAgege while Onowakpor beat the two others that contested to oust him. The incumbent Senator, representing Delta North, Prince Ned Nwoko lost out.
The primaries were held in an atmosphere devoid of intimidation and harassment. The participants counted the voted with the Electoral Officers in the adopted Option A-4 system.
At Onicha-Ukwuani, in Ndokwa axis of the state yesterday, the Deputy Governor of the state, Sir Monday Onyeme, said the exercise was conducted in a very peaceful atmosphere.
