The Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Mr Peter Ajose debunked a false report of Fulani bandits in the Oko-Afo area of the council.

Ajose disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday, June 2.

According to him, my attention has been drawn to a misleading and unfounded report circulating on social media alleging that there was a Fulani bandit attack in the Oko-Afo area of Olorunda LCDA.

“The council wishes to categorically state that this report is entirely false and does not contain any iota of truth. There has been no such attack or security breach in Oko-Afo or any part of Olorunda LCDA.

“Residents are therefore advised to disregard the false information, which appears to have been deliberately circulated to create unnecessary panic and fear among members of the public,” he said.

Ajose said his administration remains committed to the safety and security of all residents.

“We are working closely with the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property across the council area.

“In further demonstration of this commitment, the council has strengthened its security architecture through the establishment of a Joint Task Force that works in collaboration with the police and other security agencies.

“The task force has been adequately equipped and strategically positioned to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace, law and order throughout Olorunda LCDA.

“The security situation within the council remains calm and under control.

“Residents are encouraged to go about their lawful businesses and daily activities without fear, while remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious movement or activity to the appropriate security authorities.

“The council urges members of the public to verify information from credible sources before sharing it and to refrain from spreading unverified reports capable of causing public anxiety.

“Olorunda LCDA remains peaceful, secure and safe for all residents,” he said.
