The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the commencement of the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for aspirants seeking to contest various elective positions on the platform of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party disclosed that the sale of Expression of Interest Forms will begin on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and end on Monday, May 18, 2026.
According to the timetable released on Tuesday, screening and interviews of aspirants to determine eligibility for the purchase of Nomination Forms will hold between Tuesday, May 19, and Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The party advised all aspirants to appear for the screening exercise with their relevant credentials and supporting documents.
It further stated that the sale of Nomination Forms would commence immediately after the screening exercise from Thursday, May 21, to Saturday, May 23, 2026, while completed forms are expected to be submitted on or before Monday, May 25, 2026.
The statement added that appeals arising from the screening process would be entertained on May 25 and 26, while primary elections for various elective positions are scheduled to hold on May 27 and 28, 2026.
According to the party, the Presidential Primary Election will take place on May 29, 2026, in Abuja.
The NDC explained that aspirants seeking tickets for State Houses of Assembly would be screened in their respective states, while screening for aspirants to the National Assembly and presidential positions would be conducted at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
It also disclosed that governorship primaries would be conducted at the local government level.
The party noted that all aspirants would be required to sign an undertaking in line with its guidelines and code of conduct.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and internal democracy, the NDC said it would adopt the “open secret ballot” system for its primaries to ensure credibility and fairness in the emergence of candidates.
The party also stated that its approved nomination fees remain among the lowest when compared to those of other major political parties in the country.
Under the approved fee structure, aspirants for State Houses of Assembly are to pay N1 million for Expression of Interest Forms and N1.5 million for Nomination Forms, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay N2 million and N4 million respectively.
Senatorial aspirants are expected to pay N3 million for Expression of Interest Forms and N5 million for Nomination Forms, while governorship aspirants will pay N10 million and N20 million, respectively.
For the presidency, the party fixed the fees at N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form.
The party, however, approved concessions for female aspirants and persons living with disabilities, who are to pay 50 per cent and 25 per cent respectively across all categories.
The NDC reaffirmed its resolve to conduct transparent and credible primaries capable of producing competent candidates for the 2027 general elections.
