Nollywood film, “My Father’s Shadow”, has been named Best Overall Movie of the year at the ongoing 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA),
Saturday Telegraph reports that the movie emerged as the biggest winner of the 12th edition of the prestigious award.
“My Father’s Shadow” emerged as the best win of the night after polling out among a strong field of nominees that showcased some of the best productions from across the continent.

The other films nominated in the category included Gingerrr, The Herd, 3 Cold Dishes, The Serpent’s Gift and Behind The Scenes.
The Best Overall Movie category is regarded as the pinnacle award at the AMVCA, recognising excellence across every aspect of filmmaking, including directing, acting, cinematography, writing and technical execution.
The AMVCA remains one of Africa’s biggest celebrations of film and television, bringing together actors, filmmakers, producers and creatives to honour outstanding achievements across the industry.
