Minister Reaffirms FG’s Support For Varsity Infrastructure, Meets

The Minister of State for Works Bello Goronyo yesterday expressed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure in tertiary institutions through strategic collaboration and inter-agency support.

He made the promise when he received a delegation from Federal University of Dutse led by ViceChancellorAhmad Gumel. Gumel said the visit was to seek federal intervention in critical infrastructure and academic expansion, including plans to establish faculties of engineering and environmental sciences.

The professor highlighted challenges such as inadequate accommodation, power supply, and internal road and water systems, noting that over 20,000 students compete for fewer than 3,000 bed spaces.

Goronyo promised that the ministry would explore intervention opportunities, particularly in road infrastructure. He also urged the university to collaborate with relevant agencies, including the Rural Electrification Agency, for solar power solutions.
