Labour Party (LP) has screened former Senate Minority Leader, Enyinbayia Abaribe, member representing Aba North and South federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Alex Mascot Ikwechegh and House of Representatives Deputy Chairman Committee on FCT Judiciary, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, for the National Assembly election.
Abaribe and Ikwechegh were elected on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2023 but later defected to the Labour Party.
The former minority leader expressed confidence that the Labour Party will win Abia State in the next election because of the work the state governor, Dr Alex Otti, is doing in the state.
According to him, “Abia State is for the Labour Party and the Labour Party is Abia State.
“The party will win all elections beginning from governorship to Senatorial, House of Representatives and the State Assembly.”
Ikwechegh who represents Aba North and South federal constituency, said his work in the National Assembly would earn him reelection.
He added that the Labour Party has been on the rise, and “Abia is on the rise.”
Ikwechegh expressed confidence that he would win next year’s House of Representatives election “Because of the way that our party tends to conduct their political activities. Special thanks to the leader of the party, His Excellency Dr Alex Chioma Uti, the governor of Abia State.”
