The Lagos State chapter of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has congratulated the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the party.
The party, in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Ayodele Kazeem, described Governor Makinde’s emergence as a well-deserved recognition of exemplary leadership, competence, and proven capacity.
It said: “Makinde’s remarkable transformation of Oyo State since assuming office in 2019 stands as a testament to what purposeful leadership can achieve.
“Despite limited resources, his administration has delivered significant infrastructural development, expanded economic opportunities, and increased the state’s Internally Generated Revenue without imposing excessive tax burdens on the people.
“His governance model has demonstrated that development and fiscal responsibility can coexist while prioritising the welfare of citizens.
“As a party, we are mindful of the current security challenges confronting Oyo State and commend the proactive measures being taken by Governor Makinde and relevant security agencies.
“We join millions of Nigerians in praying for the safe and speedy reunion of the kidnapped schoolchildren and their teachers with their families.
“The RESET NIGERIA Agenda represents a bold and practical vision for national renewal. Central to this vision is the protection of lives and property—the foremost responsibility of any government.
“Under Governor Makinde’s leadership, critical reforms, including the implementation of state policing, will receive the attention they deserve.
“His administration will place the interests of ordinary Nigerians at the centre of governance, promote economic prosperity, and reject policies that impose undue hardship on the people through excessive taxation.
“It is equally noteworthy that the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State, Adelaja Adeoye, shares the same values of compassion, responsiveness, and visionary leadership.
“A self-made entrepreneur and accomplished administrator, Adeoye has consistently demonstrated a commitment to people-centred governance.
“His RESET LAGOS (Atunto Eko 1.0) agenda continues to gain widespread acceptance among Lagosians who desire meaningful change and inclusive development.
“We extend our profound appreciation to all delegates who travelled from across the country to participate in the presidential primary and affirmation exercise in Ibadan, with special recognition to the delegates from Lagos State.
“The overwhelming support demonstrated during the exercise reflects a growing national consensus that Nigerians are yearning for competent, compassionate, and accountable leadership.
“The message from the delegates was clear: Nigerians are tired of insecurity, economic hardship, poor governance, and policies that continue to impoverish the people.
“They seek a leader who understands their struggles and possesses the courage and capacity to chart a new course for the nation.”
