The Kano State Censorship Board has suspended two film actors, Amina Uba Hassan and Adam Garba, for the alleged release of an immoral video to the public.
The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Abba El-Mustapha, who made the announcement, said the actors are suspended from all filming activities within Kano State for a period of one year as they violated the state’s censorship regulations.
Signed by the Board’s spokesman, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the Board warned that any breach of the specifications of the suspension order would attract serious court sanctions.
“The suspension bars the actors from participating in any film-related activities in Kano State for one year.
“The two actors were suspended after appearing in a video that generated controversy among residents of Kano State over alleged indecent content.

“The law establishing the board empowers it to suspend any Kannywood practitioner found violating its regulations, while defiance of the directive could attract stricter sanctions,” the statement noted.
The statement further urged all practitioners and stakeholders in the industry to comply strictly with the suspension order, noting that any violation would attract appropriate punishment according to the law.
“Kannywood practitioners should avoid actions capable of tarnishing their image or bringing disrepute to the industry,” he said.
The statement further cautioned all Kannywood stakeholders to be mindful of actions capable of tarnishing the image and reputation of the Kannywood industry in the eyes of the public.
