Kaduna PDP Guber Candidate Pledges Tougher Action Against Insecurity

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has elected Usman Bawa ABG as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, with the flag bearer vowing to take tougher action against banditry and kidnapping if elected.

Bawa, popularly known as Alhaji Bawa Garba (ABG), emerged winner of Sunday’s primary election after polling 124,170 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Haruna Kajuru AG, who secured 22,010 votes, according to the Returning Officer, Prof. Ibrahim Lawal.

Describing his victory as “a defining moment in the political history of Kaduna State,” Bawa ABG said he would work to unite party members and restore hope to residents.

“This victory is not for Hon. Usman Bawa ABG alone. It is a victory for every struggling family seeking hope, every unemployed youth seeking opportunity, every farmer praying for security, every trader longing for economic stability, and every citizen dreaming of a peaceful and prosperous Kaduna State,” he said in his acceptance speech.

The PDP candidate called on fellow aspirants to set aside differences and focus on reclaiming power in 2027.

Lamenting worsening insecurity across the state, Bawa ABG said farmers are afraid to cultivate their lands, while businesses are shutting down due to fear and uncertainty.

“This painful reality cannot continue,” he declared, promising that security would be the top priority of his administration.

He pledged to prioritise security through collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, vigilante groups, and local communities. Plans include strengthening community policing, improving intelligence gathering, and providing logistics support for faster responses to threats.

“No meaningful development can take place where there is insecurity,” he said.

On the economy, Bawa ABG promised to create an enabling environment for businesses, encourage investments, and empower youths through entrepreneurship and vocational training. He also pledged to support agricultural development, renovate schools, recruit qualified teachers, and improve healthcare facilities.

The candidate further committed to pursuing infrastructure projects in roads, water supply, electricity, and rural development.

“No tribe, religion, or region will be marginalised. Kaduna belongs to all of us, and every citizen must feel represented and protected,” he said.

Bawa ABG expressed confidence that with unity and public support, the PDP would win the 2027 governorship election and “rebuild Kaduna State into a peaceful and prosperous state once again.”

Usman Bawa ABG emerged as the PDP governorship candidate in Kaduna State.
