Heirs Insurance launches AI to deepen financial inclusion

Heirs Insurance Group has launched what it described as Nigeria’s first multi-language generative artificial intelligence assistant for the insurance industry, as the company intensifies its push for digital transformation and broader financial inclusion.

The new AI platform, named Prince AI, is designed to provide customers with instant responses to insurance-related enquiries, while also enabling policy purchases, renewals, claims initiation, and claims tracking across multiple digital channels.

The launch comes as the insurance group approaches its fifth anniversary, a period the company said has been defined by technology-driven expansion and efforts to simplify insurance access for Nigerians.

According to the company, the AI assistant communicates in several local and international languages, including English, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese, allowing users to engage with insurance services in languages they are most comfortable with.

The assistant is available through WhatsApp, the SimpleLife mobile application, and the company’s website. Speaking on the development, the Chief Digital Officer of Heirs Insurance Group, Peace Okhianmhense-Philips, said the rollout represents a significant stage in the company’s digital expansion strategy.

“Prince AI represents the next phase of our digital evolution,” she said. “By embedding generative AI into our customer experience, we are not only improving speed and efficiency but also humanising insurance. This innovation allows us to connect more meaningfully with our customers, anticipate their needs, and deliver support that is instant, intelligent, and accessible.”

The company said the AI system is designed to evolve continuously through customer interactions, improving the accuracy and relevance of its responses over time.

It added that while the chatbot handles routine enquiries and transactions, customers requiring more personalised support would still have access to human representatives for professional guidance and clarification.

According to the firm, the hybrid model combines “the speed of automation with the empathy of human support.”

Heirs Holdings, the parent company of Heirs Insurance Group, operates across 24 countries and has investments spanning multiple sectors and continents. The insurance group comprises Heirs General Insurance Limited, Heirs Life Assurance Limited, and Heirs Insurance Brokers.

The company said the deployment of the AI assistant aligns with its broader ambition to expand insurance penetration and improve accessibility through digital innovation in Nigeria’s largely underinsured market.
