Gov. Idris Lauds Tinubu’s 1,006km Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway

Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu of Kebbi State, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the ongoing construction of the 1,006-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway.

Governor Idris, represented by his Deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, gave the commendation while hosting a high-powered presidential Media delegation at the project site.

He said the commendation became necessary considering that the road was first conceived during the administration of President Shehu Shagari but was consigned to the drawing board until now, when it is being implemented by President Tinubu following necessary amendments and redesign.

The Governor explained that the project, when completed, will significantly enhance the nation’s economy. He stated that transportation and development are interrelated, noting that sustainable development cannot be achieved without an efficient transport network.

He reassured stakeholders of the security of workers throughout the project, explaining that the state government is working closely with security agencies to ensure peaceful coexistence and a safe working environment in the state.

In his remarks on the ongoing Sokoto-Badagry road project and other initiatives under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the leader of the delegation, Mr Sunday Dare, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work. He said the development demonstrates that Mr President is carrying all parts of the country along in the execution of critical infrastructure projects.

Earlier in his address during the inspection, the representative of the Kebbi State Controller for the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Mr Malami Aliyu, stated that out of the 1,006 kilometres of the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, Kebbi State accounts for 258 kilometres. Of this, 88 kilometres have been cleared, 19 kilometres completed, and 6.3 kilometres installed with solar street lights.

He further explained that there have been no security challenges during the execution of the project in Kebbi’s portion, and highlighted that the state government under the leadership of Comrade Nasir Idris is providing all necessary support for the successful implementation of the project.

The Deputy Governor also led the delegation to inspect the ongoing Natsini–Bui–Kangiwa Federal Road project, as well as the Mega School in Argungu.
