Gov Aliyu Hails Tinubu’s Exceptional Leadership Skills

Sokoto State Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, on Monday extolled the exceptional leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying he is putting the nation on the right path.

New Telegraph correspondent reports that Aliyu Sokoto spoke when he declared open the 2026 Caliphate Bar Law Week, with the theme, ‘Secured Nation, Secured Future’.

According to the Sokoto Governor, President Tinubu has been piloting the affairs of the nation diligently and patriotically, remarking, “he is putting Nigeria on the positive and right path.”

Describing the event as epochal, the Governor reiterated the unequivocal commitment of his administration to the promotion of the rule of law.

He further acknowledged the existing cordial relationship between his administration and the Bar, declaring that his government has intensified efforts to bolster the administration of justice.

This, he added, was evident in the routine promotion of judicial officers at all levels, as well as the execution of a myriad of projects aimed at providing a conducive atmosphere for judicial officers to operate.

He recalled that his administration had recruited fourteen new judges, seven each for the State High Court and the State Shari’ah Court of Appeal.

The Governor also disclosed that his administration had provided brand new vehicles for the new judges, all in a bid to make them more comfortable to operate.

He also disclosed that the state government had recently awarded a N4 billion contract for the construction of a new High Court Complex, as well as another one for the rehabilitation of the Shari’ah Court of Appeal.

While maintaining that another contract had been awarded for the construction of three new office complexes for the State Ministry of Justice.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, who described his visit to Sokoto as a homecoming, lauded the existing cordial relationship between the three arms of government in the state.

He said, “This is worthy of emulation as development can only be achieved in such a friendly atmosphere.”

The Minister also acknowledged what he called a mature governance structure in Sokoto State, saying, “This is worthy of emulation by all states.”

The Minister of State for Works, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, commended the state chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for promoting the rule of law, acknowledging the sustained support of Gov. Aliyu to it.

The Chairman of the occasion, Justice Mohammed Sa’idu Sifawa, the Chief Judge of the State, extolled the sterling and invaluable contributions of the NBA towards bolstering the rule of law and the general administration of justice.

Justice Sifawa further appreciated the Governor for doing a lot for both the Bar and the Bench, saying that such support has been humongous and invaluable.

The Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Nasir Muhammad Binji, also commended the Governor for upholding the rule of law and for entrenching financial prudence and accountability in the governance of the state.

Binji added that the Governor has, among other invaluable support, ensured the welfare and well-being of the staff of the Ministry of Justice as well as other judicial officers.

According to him, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto had also extended countless forms of assistance to the private and public bars in the state, saying, “For this and many other interventions, he deserves a pat on the back.”

The Chairperson of the NBA in Sokoto State, Barrister Rasheedat Muhammad, had earlier described Dr Ahmed Aliyu as “the people’s Governor, the alert Governor, and a workaholic.”

Muhammad, the first female NBA Chairperson in the state, also extolled his numerous forms of support to the association, as well as maintaining an extremely cordial relationship between the state government and the Bar.

According to her, for the first time in the history of the NBA in the state, no fewer than 300 members registered for the epochal event.

Major highlights of the event were the launching of the Caliphate Law Journal, with Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto donating N30 million in that regard.

The NBA also bestowed the Governor with an “Exceptional Leadership Award” in recognition of his exceptional leadership in Sokoto State and beyond, as well as his commitment to the rule of law.

Reacting to the award, Dr Aliyu Sokoto lauded the NBA for finding him worthy of the noble gesture, vowing that it will spur him to do more not only for the association but for the people of Sokoto State.
