Former Senatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Anambra South District, Chief Ebuka Onunkwo has joined the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) in pursuit of his Senatorial ambition.
Onunkwo who contested the primary elections of APGA last year to fill the vacant seat of his District due to the death of Sen Ifeanyi Ubah could not win the ticket a development that almost created a crisis within the partying the area however made fresh declarations about two months ago to contest the primary election of APGA.
Ebuka’s defection to the NDC took place this Saturday at Abuja where he attended the National Convention of the party.
Onunkwo’s joining of the NDC is feared to be unsettling the ranks of APGA in the area as an intimidating number of his former party members are being rumoured to have concluded plans to join him en masse.
Chief Onunkwo said the move reflects his commitment to honour the promise he made to his teeming supporters: to be on the ballot and represent their interests at the national level. He noted that the NDC provides a platform that aligns with grassroots aspirations and inclusive participation.
He pledged to focus on practical, people-centred representation for Anambra South, with an emphasis on economic opportunities, youth empowerment, and community development.
The campaign team described the effort as an across-party initiative, built on broad support from constituents across the senatorial district.
