Ebonyi, APC, Stakeholders Adopt Consensus Candidacy

Stakeholders and leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State have resolved to adopt consensus candidacy that will fly various tickets of the party for the state House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate, respectively.

The former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, made this disclosure in Abakaliki while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting of selected stakeholders of the party held at Government House, Centenary City, Abakaliki.

He reiterated that the stakeholders would key behind Governor Francis Nwifuru on the need for consensus candidacy in the build-up to the polls.

“Today’s meeting has been very productive, every stakeholder agreed that consensus remains the best, no constituency will be contested, as all issues regarding consensus have been adopted”.

“This selected stakeholders meeting was convened following the earlier enlarged one held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, for members of the party”

The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), said that candidates who will fly the party flag in states, federal constituencies and senatorial districts have been selected and will be announced in due time.

Anyim stated that the stakeholders urged Governor Nwifuru to sustain his governance strategy, which aligns with global democratic ideals

In attendance at the meeting were Governor Francis Nwifuru, former Governor, ex-deputy Governors, former and serving members of the National Assembly, former and serving Principal officers of the State House of Assembly, former Ministers and Ambassadors, among others.

It would be recalled that Governor Nwifuru had last Tuesday convened an enlarged stakeholders consultative meeting across all Senatorial Districts of the state to adopt candidates that will fly various tickets of the party for various elective positions.
