The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has said that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, don’t have confidence in the Mohammed Abdulrahman-led PDP.
CP-PDP, in a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Obinna Nwachukwu, said it is because they know that there are legal implications regarding his nomination as Chairman of the interim National Caretaker Committee of PDP by Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
The conference said Anyanwu was still under suspension when he nominated Abdulrahman, who was the National Vice Chairman (North Central).
“This includes the letter to INEC on November 3, 2025, wherein Anyanwu, while still under suspension, appointed Abdulrahman Mohammed as factional Acting National Chairman, leading to the composition of the so-called National Caretaker Committee, and the convening and outcome of the March 29–30, 2026, factional Convention in Abuja.
“These actions are void ab initio, stemming from the illegal appointment of Abdulrahman Mohammed by Anyanwu while he was under suspension,” Nwachukwu argued.
According to him, the consequence is that the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led NWC, with Anyanwu as Secretary, lacks the statutory competence to legally nominate and field candidates for elections.
“This reality apparently informed the decision by some prominent members of the Wike camp to seek nomination in another party,” he added.
Nwachukwu said that the fact that Wike’s son and that of his ally Fayose, as well as Senator Philip Aduda, are contesting under the 2027 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is a testament that those close to Wike do not even have faith in the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction.
He told Wike to accept the reality that the Supreme Court, in its judgment on Thursday, upheld the suspension of Senator Anyanwu and others.
