Diri Backs APC Consensus Candidate Ahead Of Bayelsa Assembly Election


Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, on Wednesday affirmed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections following the party’s House of Assembly primaries in Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 1.

The governor disclosed that he participated in the APC primary election held in Sampou/Kalama Ward 6, where party members elected a candidate for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly seat.

According to Diri, the large turnout of party faithful during the exercise demonstrated the grassroots importance of state assembly elections and reflected growing support for the APC in the state.

He revealed that under a consensus arrangement adopted by the party, the incumbent lawmaker, Werinipre Pamoh, was endorsed to seek a second term in office.

The governor commended party leaders and stakeholders across Bayelsa State for maintaining peace, unity, and orderliness throughout the primary process, describing the exercise as successful and transparent.

Diri also expressed optimism about the APC’s chances in the 2027 elections, stating that the party is positioning itself for victory across all 24 state constituencies in Bayelsa.
