The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has inaugurated a General Court Martial to try 36 serving military personnel over alleged offences bordering on mutiny and breach of national security.
The inauguration, which took place on Friday, 24 April, 2026, follows an earlier statement issued by the military authority in January addressing concerns over the matter.
According to a press statement by Samaila Uba, Major General Director, Defence Information, the accused personnel are alleged to have engaged in actions aimed at undermining constituted authority, including an attempt to overthrow the government.
