Super Eagles coach, Eric Sekou Chelle, has once again put an end to rumours about his future by promising the NFF leadership that he will see through the remainder of his contract.
After leading Nigeria to third place at the 2025 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) in Morocco, the 48-year-old coach has been linked to several positions in Africa and abroad.

Correspondingly, his agents have moved quickly to present the coach with suggestions for a new contract that would entail a significant compensation increase and additional supervisory duties.
However, a top official told SCORENigeria on Wednesday said, “Eric has maintained he will respect his contract with the NFF and has no plans to leave before the contract is up.
“That’s good because leading the Super Eagles is great for his profile as well, it’s not just anybody who gets a chance to head one of Africa’s top teams.”
The former Mali coach is scheduled to visit Nigeria shortly, where he will observe the last few weeks of the NPFL in preparation for calling up players from the home league for the Unity Cup in London the following month.
Eric Chelle has a one-year option to extend his contract, which expires in January 2027.
