Nigerian content creator and singer, Nasiru Bolaji Nasboi said that robbers appear to have more online visibility than the authorities and added that the government’s response to kidnapping and other violent crimes has been underwhelming.
He noted that the dishonest elements frequently produce content on social media without any obstacles, cautioning that this could give the appearance that non-state actors were more powerful than the government.
Nasboi made this claim in a video that was uploaded on Facebook on Monday in response to a new video that kidnappers in Oyo State had produced showing them holding teachers and students.

The video came to light after President Bola Tinubu ordered the deployment of security forces to guarantee the victims’ release. The armed group has been holding the victims since May 15.
One of the schools’ principals, Rachael Alamu, speaking from captivity, claimed that the kidnappers had become anxious after learning that security personnel had been dispatched to the region to free them.
According to her, the abductors have shown that they are prepared to harm the victims should security forces approach their location.
She called on the government to engage in talks with the abductors.
In response, Nasboi stated that the government has to take more action against kidnapping for ransom and other such crimes.
He maintained that social media access for bandits has to be restricted.
The content creator said, “The video of the beheaded teacher is all over the internet.
“The bandits themselves are using the internet to spread these videos. They record, upload, and circulate them without fear. And their phones have IP.
“At this point, they even seem to have better online visibility than the authorities meant to stop them. Wow,” he said.
He said that as the “powerful man in the country” and commander in chief, President Bola Tinubu ought to be able to bring a swift end to banditry and kidnapping of hapless Nigerians.
“Unless allegedly…the bandits are stronger than our military,” he stated.
Nasboi urged the Federal Government not to hesitate to seek external assistance if necessary to combat the menace of banditry.
