Aspirants Pick Form, Defy Consensus Arrangements In Ondo

Several aspirants of Ondo State have obtained House of Representatives forms in defiance of the consensus arrangements put in place by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The Governor has agreed on consensus arrangements for the nine House of Representatives seats and the 26 Assembly seats for next year’s election.

An aspirant for Owo/Ose federal constituency of the state, and chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Nuel Ola Elehinle, officially declared interest in the seat by obtaining form for the election.

Elehinle, an indigene of Ipele, has picked the APC nomination form to contest against other aspirants after being cleared by the party’s national secretariat.

Addressing newsmen in Akure, the state capital, Elehinle said his decision to contest was based on his commitment to serving his constituents.

He promised to deliver the dividends of democracy and ensure that his constituents have a voice in the national affairs.

Elehinle served as a Commissioner on the board of OSOPADEC following his appointment in July 2022.

He is an APC member in Ipele Ward 7 and campaigned for the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in 2012, 2016, and 2020, and supported Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo State.

His professional background included roles at Atlas Copco Nigeria and Epiroc Rock Drills AB, Sweden.

He is a graduate of Mining Engineering and Mineral Resources Engineering from Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti. He holds an MSc in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
