Olakunle Churchill Debunks Marriage To Rosy Meurer

Nigerian businessman and ex-husband of Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh, Olakunle Churchill, has denied rumours that he is divorcing his second wife, Rosy Meurer, saying they were never formally married.

Taking to his social media page in a comprehensive statement urged fans and followers, as well as the members of the public, to ignore the circulating divorce reports as untrue.

According to him, the events between him and Rosy Meurer were not a court or church wedding, but rather only an introduction ceremony.

Churchill contended that the concept of divorce is unfounded in the absence of a formal marriage.

This is as Churchill expressed worries about the absence of due process and questioned the veracity of stories of ongoing legal processes, claiming he had never received any court paperwork.

“The rumours circulating online about a purported divorce between Roseline Meurer and me are completely false,” he said. They are untruthful and ought to be regarded as such.

“There was no legally recognised marriage. There was no church wedding and no court wedding. What took place was an introduction. Therefore, the idea of a ‘divorce’ is baseless from the outset.”

He attacked specific attorneys whom he claimed acted unprofessionally and hurried to prepare divorce documents without following the correct processes, while also criticising what he called inappropriate legal advice offered to Rosy Meurer.

“I am 100% sure that individuals without proper experience in the media space are advising Rosy incorrectly, alongside legal practitioners who operate under a mango tree without due process and claim to produce divorce documents within 24 hours,” he said.

“Looking at the alleged hearing and judgment dates, I am left asking: Is this even possible in Nigeria? At times, it is necessary to allow a man to handle his responsibilities without interference, especially when you were carried along. That is part of his role and duty.”

The billionaire went on to discuss previous disputes involving his ex-marriage to actress Tonto Dikeh, disclosing that the couple had made amends and worked out their differences in private.

He said that Tonto Dikeh is now in a better place and emphasised that their private affairs ought to have been left to them without outside intervention.

“If Tonto offended anyone, it should be me alone, and if I offended anyone, it should be Tonto. However, we have both chosen to forgive each other. I believe she has changed and is now in a better place… Tonto wronged me, and whatever existed between us was ours to resolve. No one confronted her or fought that battle on my behalf,” he said.

Churchill disapproved of stories that overstated Rosy Meurer’s assistance during his difficult times.

He acknowledged the criticism she received from the public, but insisted that someone else would have taken her place if she hadn’t been there.

“I do not agree with the narrative that Rosy ‘stood by me’ in a way that should now be exaggerated. While I acknowledge that she faced public criticism, it is important to note that if she had not been there, someone else would have filled that role in my life.

“Issues within my relationship should have been left for me to address, including defending her publicly when necessary,” he concluded.

The announcement came after Rosy Meurer’s recent Instagram video, in which she reintroduced herself without Churchill’s last name or a wedding ring, garnered fresh public attention.

She referred to her return in the video as a “rebirth” and a new stage of her career centred on development and narrative.
