APC Picks Daramola As Consensus Candidate For Okitipupa/Irele Reps Seat

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has picked Dr Olumuyiwa Olusoji Daramola for the House of Representatives seat representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.

His emergence followed a crucial stakeholders’ meeting held in Akure, the state capital, where party leaders unanimously agreed to zone the House of Representatives ticket to Ode-Aye; a decision widely regarded as a strategic move to promote fairness, inclusiveness, and internal cohesion within the party.

In his reaction, Daramola described the outcome of the meeting as a demonstration of “true leadership and respect for established party structures,” noting that zoning has remained a guiding principle in the party’s internal democratic process.

Daramola expressed profound appreciation to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his leadership, fairness, and commitment to unity within the party, as well as to other party leaders across their constituency for their support and confidence in his candidature.

A native of Ode Aye, Dr Daramola is a U.S.-trained epidemiologist and grassroots politician known for his consistent engagement with constituents and philanthropic interventions through his foundation.

His initiatives, spanning healthcare support, community development, and youth empowerment, have earned him recognition as a committed advocate for the welfare of the people.

Daramola previously contested the party’s 2022 primary under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against the incumbent, Hon Jimi Odunayo, a member of the House of Representatives.

Although he did not emerge victorious, he accepted the outcome in good faith, an act that further strengthened his standing within party ranks.

Political observers within Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency viewed his emergence as a consensus candidate as a reflection of growing confidence in his leadership capacity and dedication to service.

Party stakeholders have also expressed optimism that his candidacy will bolster the party’s chances in the forthcoming election.

In his remarks, Dr Daramola reaffirmed his commitment to the people of the constituency, pledging to deliver purposeful representation anchored on accountability, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.

He emphasised that, if elected, he would prioritise legislation and projects that directly impact the lives of his constituents.

He said,  “I am deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in me by the leadership of our great party and the good people of Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency. I remain committed to serving with integrity, dedication, and a clear focus on the needs of our people.”

Daramola assured party members and supporters of his commitment to upholding the party’s core values while working collaboratively with stakeholders to advance the overall development of the constituency.
