APC Nomination Sales Reflect Party’s Democratic Strength

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said the ongoing sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms underscores the party’s democratic credentials and widespread acceptance across the country.

Speaking with journalists after inspecting the exercise at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Yilwatda expressed satisfaction with the turnout of aspirants and the seamless conduct of the process.

“As we know, our party is one of the most democratic political parties in Nigeria. People are streaming in to buy forms freely, without restriction. Even if somebody has picked a form to contest for president, it shows the level of democracy we have,” he said.

He noted that the level of participation cuts across all elective positions, including governorship, legislative seats and even the presidency, stressing that the development reflects the APC’s dominance in the nation’s political landscape.

“Sitting governors are being challenged, senators have people contesting against them, and even the sitting president has challengers. The number of people coming out to contest shows that our party is the most acceptable political party in Nigeria,” he added.

The APC chairman dismissed concerns about possible hitches in the process, stating that the sale of forms has been smooth, with no complaints from aspirants.

“We don’t have any challenge. The banks are doing the needful, our staff are handling clearance, and receipts are being issued without issues. We have also been tracking social media and have not seen any complaints,” Yilwatda said.

He further assured party members of quality service delivery, noting that the APC remains committed to maintaining high standards throughout the exercise.

“When it comes to the quality of service, APC is one of the best in providing quality services to our members. We are confident that the smooth process will continue through the nomination stage and help us win the election,” he said.

Yilwatda emphasised that inclusion remains a core principle of the party, describing it as a driving force behind the ongoing exercise.

“Inclusion is the key issue here. We built our party on inclusion, and that is what we are seeing,” he stated.

On the possibility of extending the deadline for the sale of forms, the APC chairman said no such decision has been taken.

“There is a timeline for activities. If we are to consider any extension, the National Working Committee will meet and decide. For now, there is no extension,” he said.
