The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has cleared several aspirants to contest in the party’s State House of Assembly primaries following its screening exercise.
Those issued clearance certificates on Saturday in Yenagoa include Engr. Manash Ayibapreye for Southern Ijaw Constituency 3, Dr Felix Boyle Dimaro for Ekeremor Constituency 2, Temple Newman Dickson for Southern Ijaw Constituency 2, Ebitimi Ogoriba for Brass Constituency 2, Werinipre Iniedidie for Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 2, and Hon. Alalibo West, a former Commissioner for Special Duties, Bayelsa East Senatorial District, for Nembe Constituency 3.
The aspirants commended the exercise, describing it as peaceful, transparent, and free of rancour.
They lauded the state party leadership under Chairman Hon. Warman Ogoriba for the conduct of the screening.
Engr. Manash Ayibapreye, vying for Southern Ijaw Constituency 3, told reporters that the process was “most peaceful and promotes transparency.”
He pledged to deliver “credible and people-oriented representation” in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly if elected, adding that he would sponsor bills to “advance the cause of Bayelsans generally.”
Dr Felix Boyle Dimaro of Ekeremor Constituency 2 described the screening as “fair and cordial,” noting that the outcome had “debunked rumours of automatic tickets” for certain aspirants. He said the party’s approach provided a “level playing ground” for all contestants.
Werinipre Iniedidie, contesting Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 2, also called the process “clearly peaceful” and appealed to aggrieved members to remain loyal to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ebitimi Ogoriba, popularly known as Senibo and cleared for Brass Constituency 2, said the selection process was “unbiased and fine.”
Hon. Alalibo West, a former Chairman of Nembe Local Government Area, described the exercise as “transparent and successful.”
“It has never been this fair. The leaders of the party have done well,” he said.
Alalibo expressed confidence that with the “quality of candidates” being fielded, the APC would “emerge victorious and win all State Assembly seats come 2027.”
He urged dissatisfied members to accept the party’s decision, noting that “tomorrow may be their turn,” and called for unity to secure victory.
The APC is expected to conduct its State House of Assembly primaries in the coming weeks.
