Veteran Nollywood actor, Bob-Manuel Udokwu has opened up about his limited presence on social media, explaining that he intentionally keeps his distance from online conversations because of the negativity and distractions often associated with them.
In a post shared on Instagram, the actor and politician said he believes social media discussions in Nigeria have evolved into something exhausting and less meaningful.
According to him, topics that frequently trend online are often unrelated to the everyday realities and hardships Nigerians experience, yet they continue to dominate public attention and consume people’s time and internet data.

Udokwu also cited the culture of trolling, online attacks and constant criticism as one of the reasons he prefers not to participate actively on social media platforms.
He explained that he has been more comfortable observing conversations quietly from the background instead of engaging directly.
Despite his reservations, the actor revealed that he plans to become more active online following repeated requests from fans who want to hear from him more often.
The actor wrote: “Social media has become something else in Nigeria. Most times, things that have little or no relevance to the day-to-day struggles of the people go viral and consume valuable time and data from the same traumatised people!
“It baffles me! Too much dragging and trolling everywhere! I really don’t regret my choice to stay quiet and read from the sidelines while the job is done…… I am sure you would agree with me on this? However due to popular demand I will be more active in posting and engaging my fans from now on….. How una see am?”.
