As Muslims all over the world mark 2026 Sallah, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State Chapter, Most Rev. Dr Bulus Dauwa Yohanna has called on Nigerians to pray for purposeful leadership as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
While congratulating his excellency, Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago and Muslim faithful, Yohanna who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese said there is hope that the challenges faced in the state will soon be over.
In his Sallah message made available to Journalists on Wednesday, the CAN Chairman urged the people of the state to use the period for sober reflection and ask for God’s mercies as the nation prepares for the General Elections.
According to him, “I want to urge us all to have hope in God and not give up on issues bedevilling the State.
“I urge every one of us including the government to show love by reaching out to the downtrodden, especially those in the special homes like orphanages and old people’s homes, various IDP camps, hospitals and even Correctional centres.”
He further implored all to love their neighbours irrespective of tribe and religion.
“Let us all be agents of peaceful coexistence, united on all fronts and reach out to those in dire need,” he said.
While reiterating that, the Eid-el-Kabir embodies love, peace and sacrifice beyond the season, Bishop Yohanna called for tolerance, synergy and cooperation to overcome our current challenges.
Furthermore, the CAN Chairman congratulated Governor Bago, the Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness, Etsu Nupe, all Royal fathers and the entire Muslim Ummah.
