Port Police Put Measures In Place To Secure Waterways

The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police Command, Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja has said that the command has put in place adequate security measures across the nation’s seaports, terminals, jetties, the waterways and other critical maritime infrastructure to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Isaac Hundeyin said on Thursday that officers had been strategically deployed to strengthen surveillance, enhance visibility policing, and safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the festivities.

On behalf of officers and men of the Command, Agbaminoja heartily felicitated with Muslim faithful, maritime stakeholders, port users, and the general public on the joyous occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

She explained that as Nigerians commemorate this important religious festival which symbolises sacrifice, obedience, tolerance, and love, the command urges all residents and visitors within the port environment to uphold the values of peace, unity, and mutual respect throughout the celebration period.

The commissioner further calls on members of the public, port operators, transport unions, and maritime stakeholders to remain security-conscious and promptly report any suspicious movement or activities to the nearest port police formation.

She said: “While wishing Muslim faithful a joyous and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Command reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring safety within the port corridors, and sustaining effective policing in support of Nigeria’s maritime economy.”
