A political group, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, has accused Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar of having an alleged romance with opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.
In a statement signed by Hon. Ibrahim El-Marad, who wrote on behalf of the group, alleged that information reaching them has clearly claimed that the Senator is allegedly considering aligning with opposition parties and has promised to fund the alliance against the APC come 2027.
The statement further alleged that some disgruntled individuals loyal to Senator Abdulaziz Yari had hired local vigilantes and some criminal elements to create havoc and disrupt the election process in both Maradun I and Maradun II State Assembly Constituencies.
“These actions embarked upon by Senator Yari‘s loyalists were totally undemocratic and could have resulted in bringing chaos and could have also been harmful to the conducive environment of both the just concluded primary elections and by extension, the upcoming 2027 general elections.
“This is for Senator Yari to know that he could not by any means wash away the hard-earned popularity of the APC in Maradun local government area, the west senatorial zone where he represented at the national assembly and the state at large.
“Something must be done to ensure safeguarding the integrity, popularity and chances of the APC to win elections come 2027 in Zamfara State by tackling all possible plans by groups of criminals loyal to Senator Yari.
“APC stakeholders, members, loyalists and entire party supporters in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara state have commended the massive turnout of party supporters during the presidential and state assembly primaries in the area.
“The unprecedented crowds of party supporters and loyalists demonstrated that the Hon Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, enjoys strong grassroots support and has played a unifying role for the APC across Zamfara State.
“The group, while expressing their appreciation for the large turnout of party members and supporters during the party primary elections, said it is a reflection of strong support of the people to Hon Minister of State for Defence Dr Bello Matawalle in his own local government and the state in general”.
