APC Affirms Gov Aliyu For Second-Term Bid


Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State as its governorship candidate for the forthcoming election.

Party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters unanimously endorsed Governor Aliyu for a second term in office on Thursday, May 21.

The affirmation exercise, which saw a massive turnout of delegates, party faithful, youths, women’s groups, and political stakeholders from across the state, was described as a clear demonstration of confidence in the governor’s leadership and performance.

Speaking shortly before the exercise began, the leader of the APC National Headquarters Affirmation Committee, Alhaji Muktari Birninwa, said the committee was in Sokoto State on behalf of the party’s national leadership to conduct a peaceful, transparent, and credible affirmation process in line with the APC constitution and democratic principles.

Birninwa commended party members and stakeholders for their unity, loyalty, and continued support for the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.

He noted that the governor’s achievements had further strengthened the APC’s popularity across the state.

He lauded the developmental progress recorded under the present administration, describing the governor’s achievements as impressive and people-oriented.

According to him, Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto’s development agenda has positively impacted several sectors, including security, education, healthcare, infrastructure, water supply, agriculture, and youth empowerment.

He explained that the visible transformation taking place across different parts of Sokoto State clearly demonstrates the governor’s commitment to delivering democratic dividends and improving the welfare of the people.

The APC national committee leader further stated that the numerous developmental projects and achievements recorded by the administration were enough reason for the people of Sokoto State to support and re-elect Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for a second term in office.

Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Sokoto State, Alhaji Haruna S. Adiya, said the affirmation reflects the confidence party members and the people of the state have in the governor.

He stated that Gov. Aliyu has demonstrated commitment, loyalty, and dedication to the development of Sokoto State through the execution of impactful projects and programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens.

According to him, the APC remains united and determined to sustain the progress recorded under the present administration. He called on party members to remain steadfast and committed to the ideals of the party.

The leader of the APC in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, said he was not at the event to make a political speech but to express gratitude to Almighty Allah and the people of Sokoto State for their continued support, prayers, and loyalty to the APC and its leadership.

Senator Wamakko appreciated party members, traditional leaders, women, youths, and stakeholders across the state for their unwavering support for the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and for contributing to the unity and strength of the party.

He noted that the overwhelming turnout and support witnessed during the affirmation exercise clearly reflected the confidence the people have in the governor’s leadership and developmental agenda.

He further urged the people of Sokoto State to continue supporting the present administration in its efforts to deliver more dividends of democracy, assuring them that the APC remains committed to promoting peace, development, and good governance across the state.

Senator Wamakko thanked President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership style in promoting unity, development, and progress in the nation.

In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto expressed appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, and the people of the state for their overwhelming support and confidence in his administration.

The governor said the affirmation serves as a renewed mandate and a strong motivation to do more in delivering people-oriented projects across all sectors.

He assured that his administration remains committed to strengthening security, improving education and healthcare services, expanding infrastructure, and empowering youths and women for sustainable development.

Governor Aliyu also commended the unity within the APC in Sokoto State, describing it as a major factor behind the successes recorded so far.

He pledged to continue working closely with party leaders, traditional institutions, and all stakeholders to ensure the progress and prosperity of the state.

He further expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his leadership style as visionary, courageous, and reform-driven.

He noted that the President’s direction and national policies have continued to provide a stronger framework for development and have positively supported governance at the subnational level.

Aliyu added that the enabling environment created by the Federal Government has strengthened his administration’s capacity to deliver impactful projects and programmes for the benefit of the people.

He prayed for Almighty Allah’s continued guidance and success for the President.

He specifically expressed profound gratitude to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for his unwavering leadership, guidance, and fatherly role in strengthening the APC in Sokoto State.

He acknowledged Wamakko’s continuous support and contributions to the stability and success of the party and his administration, praying for Allah’s continued blessings upon him.

Aliyu further called on the people of Sokoto State to sustain their support and prayers, promising that his administration would not relent in its efforts to justify the confidence reposed in it.

The event ended with celebrations and renewed pledges of loyalty from party supporters, who reaffirmed their commitment to the APC and their support for Governor Ahmed Aliyu and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko ahead of the forthcoming elections.
