Adelabu Declares Interest In Contesting Oyo Guber Under APC

….Leaders describe him as the best among aspirants

The immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, on Tuesday declared his intention to contest the gubernatorial election in Oyo State on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), boasting that he has all it takes to take State to an enviable height in the comity of states.

The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), made this formal declaration at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan where a mammoth crowd of supporters gathered to cheer him on.

While addressing the gathering, Adelabu noted that he joined the race because he believes that the state deserves more dividends of democracy, promising to implement projects and policies aimed at improving the living conditions of the people of the state.

Having recalled his political journey starting from 2019 and efforts he had made with contributions to the party structures, he said that his declaration message goes beyond a declaration but that it is the summary of his manifesto. “Today is a day to reclaim Oyo State to genuine progress”, he said.

“I stand before you with humility to declare my intention to contest for the gubernatorial election on the platform of our great party, APC, in 2027.

“I want to appreciate the President and Commander-in-chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Thank you for the renewed hope.

“Why am I contesting again? It is because I believe Oyo State deserves more. Oyo State deserves security and stability because governance goes beyond rhetoric.

“I am contesting because I know that I have the experience and exposure to build a greater Oyo State that is economically advanced. Good governance must be felt at the grassroots.”

He listed visionary leadership, competent governance, economic transformation, security, stability, and prosperity as the priorities he intends to deliver if elected.

Adelabu said his vision is to build a greater Oyo State that is economically vibrant, educationally advanced, agriculturally and industrially competitive, socially secure, and inclusive for all.

He stressed that the 2027 election is about the future of children, jobs for youths, safer communities, better schools, stronger healthcare, and inclusive governance, while describing the declaration as the start of a movement to restore, rebuild, reposition, and reclaim Oyo State for people-centred governance under the APC.

Meanwhile, the zonal leaders of the party have endorsed the 2027 gubernatorial ambition of Adelabu, noting that he stands out among other aspirants.

“They urged the APC members and residents of the state to rally behind him to become the governor of the state in 2027.

According to the leaders, “considering Adelabu’s unprecedented achievements both in the public and private sector, he is the best among APC aspirants to fly the ticket of the party in 2027”, they said in a statement.

The APC leaders in attendance included: Alhaji Mufutau Adisa Gbayawu, Hon. Lekan Adeyemo, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi, Alhaji Isiaka Alimi, Alhaji Wale Sanusi, Chief Goke Oyetunji, Chief Muyibi Oluokun, Alhaji Bao, Hon. Diran Ogundijo, Sunday Adewale, and Alhaji Rasheed Folarin among others.
