Police Foil Coordinated Attack Plot, Arrest Two Suspects

The Kwara State Police Command has foiled what it described as a coordinated criminal attack plan on the State by a kidnapping syndicate, arresting two suspects and recovering three AK-47 rifles, magazines and live ammunition within the capital city of Ilorin.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun EjireAdeyemi, in a statement, said the operation was carried out on May 5, 2026 at about 7:30 pm,

following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team attached to the Command, in line with the intelligence-led policing directives of the Inspector General of Police, Rilwan Disu.

According to the PPRO, the suspects, identified as Adamu Ibrahim, 30, and Sani Musa, 29, were tracked and arrested after weeks of intelligence gathering on the activities of the suspected gang.

Preliminary investigations, she added, indicated that the suspects allegedly attempted to conceal their weapons by handing them over to a female accomplice for movement to an agreed location where the planned operation was to be carried out.
