The federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Olajide, has formally joined the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), completing his registration as a full-fledged member of the party.
The development comes days after the two-term lawmaker announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved and protracted leadership crisis within the party.
Olajide formally registered with the APM after filling out the party’s membership forms and concluding other necessary documentation processes.
Confirming the development, Olajide, who spoke through his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, said the lawmaker had officially aligned with the APM following due consultations with political associates, supporters and stakeholders across Oyo state.
According to him, the move marks the beginning of a new political chapter for the federal lawmaker, whose political structure and support base continue to grow across the state ahead of the 2027 general election.
“Yes, Honourable Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide Odidiomo has formally joined the Allied Peoples’ Movement and has completed his membership registration processes. He is now a full-fledged member of the party,” Mustapha said.
It would be recalled that Olajide had, on Thursday, tendered his resignation from the PDP in a letter addressed to the chairman of the party in Ward 11, Ibadan south-west local government area of Oyo state.
In the letter, the lawmaker explained that his decision followed prevailing realities within the party structure and his desire to continue his political aspirations in an atmosphere that guarantees inclusiveness, stability and progressive engagement.
Part of the resignation letter read: “Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately, and I request that my name be removed from the membership register, database and all official records of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the ward, local government, state and national levels with immediate effect.
“I further request that all documents, records and materials reflecting my membership of the party be duly updated to reflect my resignation accordingly.”
Mustapha further disclosed that the federal lawmaker has directed his political associates, coordinators, and support groups across the 33 local government areas of Oyo state to immediately commence the harmonisation and movement of their structures into the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) fold, aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots presence and positioning it as a formidable platform for democratic governance in Oyo state.
