Nigerian frozen food brand under Sayed Farms Limited, Fiesta Foods, says it is strengthening its cold-chain logistics system as part of efforts to address food quality and safety concerns in the country’s growing packaged food market.
This comes as Nigeria’s cold-chain infrastructure remains uneven, with gaps in refrigerated transport and storage contributing to challenges in maintaining consistent food quality across supply chains.
The company said the investment is aimed at ensuring its frozen products maintain quality and safety from production through storage and distribution to consumers, as demand for convenience foods rises across urban centres such as Lagos, Abuja and Ibadan.
“Frozen food consumption has been increasing in Nigeria, driven by busy lifestyles, rising food prices and changing eating habits among urban households. Products such as frozen chicken, fries and sausages are increasingly being used as quick alternatives to daily fresh-market cooking,” the firm said in a statement.
The company said its products are used by consumers seeking quick meal options after work, citing convenience and taste.
However, food safety remains a key concern in the frozen food segment, particularly around temperature control during storage and transportation.
Fiesta Foods said maintaining the right temperature across the supply chain is critical to frozen food quality, warning that any disruption in the cold chain can affect product integrity.
It said maintaining a consistent cold chain is central to its operations, noting that its system is designed to preserve product quality across all stages, from production to final delivery.
The company produces chicken and frozen sausages locally and also distributes products including frozen fries, mozzarella cheese, butter and fish fillets.
Fiesta Foods added that its operations are supported by trained personnel across the value chain, including logistics specialists, veterinarians and food safety officers.
