The opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its timetable for the 2026 primary elections as the battle for the 2027 general elections draw closer.
In the press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, the party outline key dates for nomination, screening, and voting across all elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the schedule announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the sale of nomination forms will run from May 5 to May 10, while submission of completed forms is fixed for May 11 to May 13.
The party added that screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 14 and 15, with results to be released on May 17.
Appeals will be entertained between May 18 and 19, while the final list of cleared candidates will be published on May 20.

The party stated that primary elections will begin on May 21, covering State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate contests at the ward level. Governorship primaries are slated for May 22, while the presidential primary will hold on May 25.
A National Executive Committee meeting is expected on May 26, followed by a Special National Convention on May 27 to ratify outcomes.
The party also announced fees for nomination forms across positions. It fixed the presidential form at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, Senate at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million, and State Assembly at ₦3 million.
However, the ADC introduced concessions to encourage participation, offering a 50 per cent discount for youths and a 25 per cent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
The development comes amid ongoing internal disputes within the party. A recent ruling by the Supreme Court reinstated the faction led by former Senate President David Mark, but the ADC continues to grapple with leadership disagreements and legal challenges ahead of the primaries.
Party leaders urged members and aspirants to strictly adhere to the timetable as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
