The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pushed back against criticisms surrounding its recent Supreme Court victory, describing attempts to downplay the judgement as misleading and politically motivated.
In a statement on Friday, May 1st, the party’s spokesperson, Mobolaji Abdullahi dismissed claims that the ruling was a “pyrrhic victory,” insisting that the party had every reason to celebrate the outcome.
According to Abdullahi, the political environment remains highly competitive, with opposition parties like the African Democratic Congress facing constant pressure and scrutiny.

He noted that despite being perceived as an underdog, the party is made up of experienced leaders who understand the significance of strategic victories.
He emphasized that while the Supreme Court judgement is not the final goal, it represents an important milestone in the party’s broader mission to secure victory in the 2027 general elections and prevent Nigeria from drifting toward a one-party system.
“The struggle is bigger than any single court decision,” Abdullahi stated.
The ADC maintained that celebrating the judgement was both justified and necessary, describing it as a sign that the party remains active and competitive in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Reaffirming its commitment, the party said it has already shifted focus back to ongoing efforts across legal, political, and public engagement fronts, stressing that the ultimate objective remains unchanged.
