The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that divisions within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have been resolved following the recent ruling of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the Apex Court verdict on Thursday, at his residence in Abuja, Wike maintained that the court’s decision has put an end to the prolonged leadership dispute within the opposition party.
“The Supreme Court judgment has now made it known there is only one PDP, and we no longer hear faction,” Wike declared. “Faction does not exist any longer in the People’s Democratic Party.”
The apex court had nullified the PDP national convention held in Ibadan between November 15 and 16, 2025, which produced the leadership led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.

It ruled that the exercise was conducted in violation of existing court orders and described it as an abuse of judicial process.
Wike also reacted to the political implications of the judgment for key figures who supported the Turaki-led faction, including Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed, suggesting that their political direction is now uncertain.
“I don’t know where they are going to pitch their tent,” he said.
The former Rivers State governor reiterated his support for the rival convention held in March 2026, which produced Abdulrahman Mohammed and other members of the National Working Committee, insisting that it remains valid.
Wike further dismissed the possibility of accommodating members aligned with Atiku Abubakar within the PDP, describing them as politically unviable.
The Supreme Court ruling is widely seen as a decisive moment in the PDP’s internal crisis, which had lingered for months and created uncertainty over the party’s leadership structure.
