Tinubu Campaigners Empower Farmers, Widows

Not less than 1,000 farmers from different parts of Ondo State have benefited from empowerment programmes initiated by the Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN) in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The benefiting farmers received rain boots, seedlings, sprayers, and other farm implements during the statewide tour of the group, supported by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

This development was a follow-up to SGN’s earlier interventions like the distribution of free fuel to commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada and Tricycle operators, under the Tinubu Free Fuel, (TFF) programme.

Aldo, the campaign group empowered many widows across the state through the BTO Widows’ mite, and the distribution of aprons for market women across selected markets in the state.

The farmers’ empowerment programme recorded a significant turnout, with farmers describing the intervention as timely and beneficial. The farmers noted that the tools provided would ease farm operations, reduce manual stress, and improve productivity.

The beneficiaries of the TFS expressed appreciation for the initiative, commending its impact on their farming activities and livelihoods. They also acknowledged the ongoing efforts aimed at improving agriculture and rural development.

Speaking during the exercise, the Director General of SGN, Hon. Dayo Awude, conveyed the goodwill message of the Honourable Minister who sponsored the initiative.

Awude said the programme reflected his commitment to grassroots development and support for local farmers. These he described as necessary at this time to complement the ongoing reforms of the Tinubu-led administration.

Awude said the initiative in particular was to support the food security programme of the federal government. He maintained that the Tinubu Farmers’ Support, TFS, programme is part of broader efforts to strengthen food production and support rural livelihoods.

The Director General encouraged continued support for the administration of President Tinubu, noting that ongoing reforms in key sectors, as well as the massive road constructions including the dualisation of the Akure-Ore road, the dualisation of the Akure-Ado-Ekiti road, the Ilesha-Akure-Benin road, as well as the Lagos-Calabar Highway that’s passing through the expansive coastal line of the state are being carried out in the state, require sustained backing of Mr President.

Awude said the completion of the programme across the state highlights SGN’s expanding grassroots engagement, reinforcing its role as a platform delivering impactful initiatives sponsored by Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in support of the administration and re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
