Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 Lagos election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of attempting to control the political will of Lagos residents ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Rhodes-Vivour said that it is wrong for any individual or group to assume the power to determine who governs Lagos State.
He insisted that such decisions rest solely with the people.

Also, he warned against what he described as the dominance of political interests over democratic choice.
Rhodes-Vivour stressed that Lagosians must resist any attempt to undermine their voting power.
The former governorship candidate maintained that the state is bigger than any single political figure, calling for a shift towards leadership that is accountable and responsive to the needs of residents.
He urged Lagosians to take ownership of the political process in 2027, emphasising that only the electorate has the right to choose their leaders and decide when change is necessary.
