Liverpool Overcome Palace Fightback to Secure 3-1 Win At Anfield

Liverpool made it three consecutive victories in the Premier League with a hard-earned 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield, despite a spirited challenge from the visitors.

The Reds were far from dominant throughout, even registering fewer shots on target, but proved clinical when it mattered to maintain their strong run of form.

There was early controversy when a penalty initially awarded to Mohamed Salah was overturned, but Liverpool soon found their rhythm.

Alexander Isak opened the scoring with a moment of brilliance, expertly controlling a fierce strike from Alexis Mac Allister before firing a composed finish past Dean Henderson.

Liverpool doubled their lead in impressive fashion, with an unlikely contributor playing a key role. Third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman produced an excellent save to deny Jean-Philippe Mateta, sparking a swift counterattack.

The move ended with Andrew Robertson calmly finishing from a precise throughball by Curtis Jones.

Crystal Palace, however, refused to fade quietly. They pulled a goal back in controversial circumstances when Daniel Muñoz tapped into an empty net while Woodman was down injured after making a crucial one-on-one save against Ismaïla Sarr.

The goal shifted momentum, with Palace pressing aggressively for an equaliser. Liverpool were forced to withstand sustained pressure, showing resilience in the closing stages.

Any lingering nerves were finally settled deep into stoppage time by Florian Wirtz, who produced a moment of quality with a superb sliced half-volley that flew into the top-left corner, sealing the victory in style.

While not their most convincing performance, Liverpool’s ability to capitalise on key moments proved decisive.

The result strengthens their position as the season enters its decisive phase, while Palace are left to reflect on what might have been after an encouraging but ultimately unrewarded display at Anfield.
